OEM Parts: Are designed to fit the vehicle and are guaranteed to fit. They also usually come with a manufacturer-backed warranty. Using OEM parts can help maintain the vehicle’s structural integrity and resale value.
OES Parts: Stands for Original Equipment Supplier, and refers to an authorized sub-contractor or supplier that produces parts for a vehicle. OES parts are also known as Automotive Aftermarket parts. These parts would have to offer the same or very similar warranty and quality as the OEM for us to recommend them. Pay Cheap Pay TWICE!
Can I Supply My Own Parts?
We understand why purchasing your own parts might be tempting, but at ALL German Motorworks we “rarely” say Yes. It is at OUR discretion. You might assume that buying your own auto parts will inevitably save you money. After all, you can shop around and find extremely inexpensive parts. However, this choice can actually cost you money in the long run.
You might choose a part that is not compatible with your car. So many parts today are
counterfeit and with so many makes and models of cars, the year the car was produced etc. the parts are not one size fits all. If wrong, the vehicle will sit on a lift for a prolonged period of time, costing the shop lost revenue.
You might purchase a subpar product that (while cheap) won’t stand the test of time.
And most importantly, you will NOT receive a warranty from us if you bring your own
parts. Because of this, we would ask you to sign a waiver so that if the part breaks or stops working, we are NOT liable. You must assume responsibility for your choice in parts.
All German Motorworks Liability insurance does not allow for non vendor parts. It is a liability issue because if the wrong parts get put on then we could be liable. In the end, you will save money by letting the professionals take the reins. Plus, the warranty will provide you with peace of mind.
